Clem smiled as they sat at the end of the dock, watching the ocean coming in and out, the seagulls lazily seeking food in the tides. Feeling his chin rest on her arm, she automatically smiled and turned, kissing him lightly, running a hand through his wild curly hair. “This is really nice,” she murmured. “I’ve been cooped up in the biology room too long.” She rested her head against his, her hands going to his hair again. She was silent for a moment and then smiled at him, putting an arm around him. “I’m so lucky, you know that?”
Pavel, who had been silent until now, laughed, a low husky sound. “Na, i’m ze lucky one,” he murmured, kissing her chin. “I never thought i’d be with such a good woman.” He put his arm around her, sighing. “I mean, i’ve never been mr smooth.”
“You don’t need to be,” Clem said softly. “You just need to be Pavel Chekov. Who sometimes hogs the bed and pillows, who snores in his sleep and works too hard, but who has the best heart I’ve ever encountered.”
Chekov snorted. “YOU hog the bed, miss. I don’t know how you do it.” he smiled. “And you snore, and drool, and you kick me in your sleep sometimes, but you are still the most perfect woman i’ve ever encountered, and…..I love you.”
Clem wordlessly smiled. They had been dating for only a few months, so the I love you’s had never really been said much, Clem wanting to take things slow after her line of bad men. “I…love you too, Pasha,” she said softly.
He nestled into her again, sighing. “Mmm, good.”
The two of them then were silent, watching the sun go down.
